By dusting your ceiling fans first, then your cabinets and furniture, you ensure that all the dirt, dander, and dust that’s accumulated over winter falls down to your carpets before you vacuum. If you do it the other way around, you’ll need to vacuum twice.
Stain Removal is Key
Before vacuuming, you absolutely must identify and remove stains with the appropriate treatments. Vacuuming before removing the stain grinds the substance deep into the carpet fibers, potentially making it permanent – or spreading it to other areas of the carpet.
As an aside – always test the stain removing compound you’re using on a small, out-of-sight spot on your carpet to be sure it doesn’t bleach your fabric.
Identify Problem Areas
